The city of Burleson, Texas launched Operation Remember to honor and archive the personal histories of local veterans. Veteran’s Memorial Park was dedicated to the city, which features a Purple Heart monument, an eagle statue and a fountain surrounded by memorial bricks to pay tribute to those that have served.
After the community requested an easier way to locate their Veteran’s brick among the hundreds, the city developed an interactive kiosk that shows where to locate the bricks in a grid format. They also combined the “brick-finder” kiosk project with the US Congress Veteran’s History project which videotapes personal accounts of war veterans. Visitors can view a videotaped personal account of war, pictures of the veteran during his time in service, and a picture of the brick located in the park all in one place. The application was developed by ADSI and used in conjunction with KioWare Kiosk Software (kioware.com). Onesource Interactive supplied the Eurotouch kiosk used.
